Quiet Stillness

The snow fallen night brings

Brings forth to the restless soul.

One aspect I appreciate about living with the four seasons is the reflections that winter can provide. Here we are not quite in winter but on the copse of fall and winter. We recently received our first snow fall that took us all unexpectedly yet it was a reminder how volatile this year, 2020, has been and how we must be flexible and adaptable to the ebb and flow of time.

I AM A DOG DREAMING GYPSY, as my grandpa Harvey Gish would call me. “Oh Jesse, you are just like me, we are different than the rest.” Grandpa would call me one with a Cast-Iron Constitution. That is what I am. Strong, resilient yet non-stick. I can cook up a lot of medicine and food on a cast iron skillet. I can also use that pan as a weapon. Our family company, Freeborn Family Farms is all of this. We are timeless yet practical.

I wanted to spend this time to express what we grow and put into our All Purpose Healing Salve: Comfrey for healing; St. John’s Wort for pain and anti-bacterial; Yarrow for coagulating the blood and Lavender for wound healing and her soothing properties. All of these infused in grapeseed oil and preserved in local beeswax.

All of my dreams, hopes and wishes are infused in this oil. Hopes of a sustainable future. Where we humans live in harmony with nature and we relearn the ancient powers of plants and to harness the healing energy to heal the planet and its people. Amen.

We have so many testimonials of this healing salve. It takes the sting away from bug bites and winter chapped cheeks. It can also make a great lip gloss and foot rub. It is multipurpose and a medicine I am proud to share with my community. It's got a cast-iron constitution and a Dog-Gone Dreamin' Gypsy quality. Please share your testimonials with me,
