Hello forest friends and family,
The magic of North Idaho in fall is hard to describe. One must experience it! The bright fall colors adorn the forest and the dance of light amongst the trees is breathtaking. It is time to put up for winter and get every last bit of sunshine we can as we transition into colder, winter months. What a perfect time to gather and learn about the late fall herbs to forage and how to ferment! I am offering two classes this month that will cover you and your family this winter. Below is the description and info.
I wrote this poem recently about who I am becoming as a forest teacher.
This past year I have fully immersed myself in the language of the trees and feral terrain. So many profound lessons and miracles observed. Some harsh truths as well as grace received.
An Ode to My Journey Thus Far:
I am a TEA-cher
Medicine Maker
Truth Seeker
A bit of a day dreamer
I belong among the wild flowers
My classroom is where the wild things grow
I will spread love to all, friend or foe
I am a student and steward of the forest
An active spirit whose body needs rest
A wanderer, rambler, didn’t meant to digress
Forager of truth
Digging deep down into my roots
Forever remaining playful and free
Taking charge of my own destiny
Learning hard life lessons
That I share in my herbal classes
Keeping a strong moral compass
A half-full rather than half-empty glass
A lover of nature
Protector of the innocent
Honoring God’s creation and its magnificence
Singing my song to the beat of my own drum
Blending in with harmony while getting work done
A team and tribal player I will always be
Hoping to inspire y’all
And make a humble mark on humanity
My book, Where The Wild Things Grow, is coming along. I am at over 10,000 words and keep adding more plants to discuss. 96 plants and counting! I cannot wait to get this work of art and knowledge in print and giving myself a deadline at the end of this year. I am envisioning a book reading/ launch party this coming spring of 2024! This herbal wisdom is ancient that I am sharing. I also make it tangible and how to work with these plants in your everyday life. My mission of this book is to inspire folks to steward the land and go out and forage where the wild things grow.
I would like to cordially invite you to my upcoming class happenings this month.
